Become a Mentor!
Six Cups to Success
A mentor training/orientation is planned for 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 15 in the Thinkspace at the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office (TCSOS). Before being assigned a student, mentors must be fingerprinted, undergo a background check, complete a TB test, and Mandated Reporter training. An initial meeting between students and mentors will be arranged at the school sites, with parents also invited to attend and meet mentors.
BECOME A MENTOR!
TCSOS is partnering with the Center for a Non Violent Community to coordinate the 6 Cups to Success Mentor Program. Last year was the first year of the program, and we are looking forward to partnering even more students with mentors in 2019-2020. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a mentor, an information orientation is coming up soon!
6 Cups to Success is a mentor program open to all Tuolumne County public school districts that’s designed to help high school students in their transition to college, vocation or trade school. We pair high school students with community members who have similar college choices, majors and/or career fields. They will then meet approximately six times throughout the school year to navigate the various aspects of college and career planning.
- Mentors and mentees are gender matched
- Where possible, mentors will be matched with students interested in similar career fields, college majors and/or type of college
- Mentors and mentees meet approximately 6 times during the school year
