Schools throughout Tuolumne County are joining together to celebrate Red Ribbon Week, a nationwide campaign that promotes healthy, drug-free lifestyles among students and families.
This year’s theme, “Life is a Puzzle, Solve it Drug Free,” reminds us that every decision we make is an important piece of the bigger picture of our lives. When we make safe and healthy choices, we’re putting the right pieces in place to build a strong foundation for our future.
Together, let’s support our students in making positive choices and leading drug-free lives as we continue to Lead, Learn, and Grow in Tuolumne County.
Educator Resources for Drug Prevention
To further support educators in their efforts to promote substance use awareness and prevention, we’ve gathered some valuable resources:
- National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) for Teens
NIDA offers a range of free, science-based resources for educators, including classroom activities, lesson plans, and interactive materials designed to engage students in understanding the impact of drug use. - Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
SAMHSA provides comprehensive resources for teachers, including the “Talk. They Hear You.” campaign, which includes guides on how to talk to students about substance use and its dangers. - The Partnership to End Addiction
This organization provides a wealth of information for educators and parents alike. Their resources include downloadable guides and research-based strategies for discussing drug prevention with students. - Red Ribbon Campaign’s Official Site
The official Red Ribbon Campaign site offers toolkits, planning guides, and printable materials to support schools and communities in promoting drug-free lifestyles.
By utilizing these resources, educators can enhance their Red Ribbon Week activities and foster ongoing conversations about the importance of making healthy choices. TCSOS and our community partners remain committed to supporting our schools and students in making positive decisions that lead to a brighter tomorrow.
