Recent lightning storms and wildfires across Tuolumne County serve as a reminder of how quickly emergencies can unfold. The safety of our students, staff, and families is always our top priority.
Communication During Emergencies
The Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools (TCSOS) uses an Emergency Notification System to share urgent updates. Families will receive a text message from TCSOS with important details, and we will also often send an email to the address on file with additional information.
In the event of school closures or delays, TCSOS also works closely with local news outlets to ensure the information reaches families as quickly and widely as possible. More details about how we handle weather-related closures can be found in our article: Preparing for Winter and Inclement Weather Delays »
Keep Your Contact Information Current
To ensure you receive these important alerts:
-
TCSOS families should contact the Student Support Services office if their phone number or email address has changed.
-
TCSOS staff should reach out to Human Resources to update their contact information. The HR Department will be sending an email reminder soon for emergency contact information updates.
Be Prepared at Home
Preparedness at home is just as important as staying connected. We encourage families to take the following steps:
-
Create an escape plan. Practice it with all household members so everyone knows what to do and where to go during an emergency.
-
Prepare a “go bag.” Include essentials such as medications, important documents, food, water, clothing, flashlights, and chargers.
-
Stay informed. Follow trusted local news, emergency services, and school notifications for the latest information on fire activity or evacuation notices.

Emergencies can happen with little warning, but by planning ahead and staying connected, we can work together to keep our schools and community safe.
