RISE

Therapeutic Learning

RISE is a structured, therapeutic learning program designed to support students with emotional disabilities whose social-emotional or behavioral needs significantly impact their ability to access learning in less restrictive educational settings.

RISE serves students who may experience challenges with emotional regulation, coping skills, peer relationships, or consistent engagement in learning, even after targeted interventions have been implemented in general education or other special education settings.

The program provides a supportive environment where students can build essential skills, strengthen relationships, and re-engage meaningfully with learning.

What RISE Provides

RISE classrooms are intentionally designed to support both academic growth and social-emotional development. The program offers:

  • A safe, predictable, and supportive learning environment
  • A focus on building healthy, respectful relationships
  • Integrated academic instruction with targeted social-emotional skill development
  • Social-emotional learning is embedded within daily routines
  • A restorative practices approach to resolving conflict and building relationships
  • Collaboration with community partners to provide wraparound support for students and families
  • Inclusion opportunities to practice and grow skills in broader settings
  • Rigorous academics aligned to each student’s individual learning level

Program Goals

The goal of RISE is to work collaboratively with students, families, schools, and community partners to build self-awareness, emotional regulation, and effective coping strategies, while strengthening positive social and interpersonal skills.

Through individualized support, students develop skills that promote increased independence, improved school engagement, and successful participation in learning environments.
