At the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools (TCSOS), we know that some of the most powerful learning happens beyond the classroom walls. That is why each year, we curate a diverse lineup of student events that spark creativity, foster collaboration, and connect learning to the real world. The 2025–2026 Student Events Calendar is now available — and it is shaping up to be one of our most engaging years yet.
This year’s lineup includes everything from science fairs and mock trials to music festivals and robotics challenges. These events are more than just field trips or competitions — they are opportunities for students to lead, explore, and grow alongside their peers across the county.
One of the most anticipated traditions of the year is Mad About Science, held in late July at Columbia College. This immersive week invites upper elementary and middle school students into a world of hands-on STEM learning, setting the tone for a year of exploration and innovation.
In early fall, third graders will participate in the Children’s Friendship Conference, a two-day event that blends social-emotional learning with real-world strategies for building positive relationships and preventing bullying. It’s an experience that leaves a lasting impact on how students treat one another — and themselves.
Later in the year, middle school students will have the chance to attend Dinner with a Scientist, an inspiring evening that brings students face-to-face with STEM professionals from across the region. These dinner conversations often plant the seeds for future careers and passions.
High schoolers, meanwhile, will step into the shoes of attorneys at the Mock Trial competition. With guidance from real legal professionals, students prepare and argue cases in a Tuolumne County courtroom, sharpening their communication, critical thinking, and civic understanding.
And in the spring, students and families will pack the house at the STEAM Expo, an interactive celebration of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. With everything from student showcases to the popular SJCOE Star Lab, the Expo is a true highlight of the academic year.
The year wraps up in May with the Career Technical Education (CTE) Showcase & Expo, where students explore hands-on career pathways offered through local high schools and Columbia College. It’s part celebration, part inspiration, and 100% future-focused.
These are just a few of the dozens of student events scheduled throughout the year. Each one is thoughtfully designed to offer meaningful, standards-aligned experiences for students in grades TK through 12.
