This annual contest encourages students to use creativity as a tool for awareness, connection, and hope. Through art, students are asked to reflect on the theme “Creating Hope Through Action” and share messages that promote prevention, resilience, and support.
Who Can Participate
The contest is open to students in the following grade levels:
- Grades 6–8
- Grades 9–12
Only one entry per student is allowed.
Poster Theme
Creating Hope Through Action
Posters should reflect the theme through clear, positive, and thoughtful messages related to suicide prevention. Artwork should focus on hope, support, and actions that strengthen connections within school communities.
Poster Requirements
- Size: Posters must be at least 8.5 x 11 inches and no larger than 11 x 17 inches
- Materials: Traditional art materials only. Digital artwork and photography are not permitted
- Originality: Posters must be original. Copied designs or artwork from previous contests or published sources will be disqualified
- Content Guidelines:
- No violent or graphic imagery
- No brand names
- No copyrighted characters, including television, movie, or cartoon characters
- Accuracy: Posters with misspellings will be disqualified. Students should carefully check spelling before submitting
Judging Criteria
- Posters will be evaluated based on the following:
- Creativity: Original and imaginative ideas
- Visual Impact: Overall appearance, clarity, and neatness
- Theme Connection: How clearly the poster reflects the contest theme
Awards
- Prizes will be awarded in each grade category, grades 6–8 and grades 9–12:
- First Place: $100
- Second Place: $50
- Third Place: $25
Submission Details
- Write the student’s full name, grade, teacher, and school on the back of the poster
- Do not include identifying information on the front of the poster
- Posters should be clearly labeled and organized
- All posters will be returned to students
- TCSOS reserves the right to modify entries for printing purposes
Poster Drop-Off Locations
Posters may be dropped off at your school office or delivered to the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools.
