This user group will discuss the latest releases and updates provided by CALPADS. In this training, multiple data technicians will discuss various reports submitted to CALPADS, from credentialing to free and reduced lunch applications. Numerous departments will be present to answer any questions that may arise.

County boards of education decide appeals in interdistrict transfers, which can significantly impact the lives of students and their families. This session will help board members understand their roles as appellate decision-makers by addressing the common elements of appeal procedures generally and the importance of understanding the standard and scope of review in an appellate process. The session will also address specifically the legal standards for interdistrict transfer appeals, as well as practical considerations and real-life scenarios, so that board members will have a solid understanding of their responsibilities when considering these appeals.
This session will provide training on all aspects of student discipline, including grounds for suspensions and expulsions, other means of correction, investigations, and expulsion hearing procedures.

How do you ensure your email will be read? This program identifies the do’s and don'ts of email and offers suggestions for writing emails in a way that captures the attention of the recipient and gives them all the pertinent information. The presentation includes information about subject lines, format, content, emotions, grammar and punctuation, signatures, and the use of CCs and BCCs.

This discussion will cover notice and agenda requirements, serial meetings, open and closed sessions, violations and remedies, and the public’s right to participate in the process.
CDE will be at TCSOS for training “How to effectively report educator assignments in CALPADS, so the data (which becomes part of Cal SAAS, and then later SARC, and soon LCAP) are an accurate representation of what’s going on.” Discussion on the challenges specific to rural areas and the educator shortage issues.
