Honor Music Festival
We are thrilled to have Patty Jo Struve as our guest conductor for the 2023 Tuolumne County Honor Band. With 38 years of teaching experience in private and public schools, Patty Jo brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the podium. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1979. She later obtained her Master of Music Education degree from the University of Colorado (UNC) in Greeley.
Throughout her career, Patty Jo has been passionate about conducting. She has sought opportunities to improve her skills through workshops and mentorship from greats such as Mallory Thompson and Gary Greene. During the Covid pandemic, she continued her education online through a conducting workshop at the University of North Carolina.
Patty Jo’s passion for conducting has led her to conduct several Honor Bands, both junior high and high school, in Washington State and California. Her dedication to music education is further evidenced by her work in starting many beginning music programs and her private music lesson teaching experience on piano and all wind instruments.
Despite her many accomplishments, Patty Jo remains humble and grateful for the opportunity to conduct the Tuolumne County Honor Band. She continues to actively play the trumpet and hopes to broaden her conducting experiences throughout her lifetime. We are thrilled to have such a dedicated and experienced conductor leading our young musicians in the 2023 Honor Band.
